A young family from Oughtibridge approached us having lovingly renovated their house but left unsure with what to do with their sloping rear garden.
Their current garden was unusable and unsafe for the two children. It wasn't enclosed and featured steep concrete steps to access the different levels.
They wanted to create a low maintenance family garden that was safe for their children to play in. They also wanted an entertaining space that took advantage of the stunning views across the valley.
We proposed creating a three tier garden featuring distinctive zones. We initially sketched this out and agreed the approach before progressing to CAD designs.
The zones included a safe lawn area for the children to play, a low maintenance raised border and elevated decking for entertaining, featuring longer shallow steps for their children.
We proposed a hand built balustrade. This provided gaps to safely watch the children play but also maintain privacy and beautifully frame the base of their fantastic view.
We started at the centre point of the design by lowering the height of the centre of the garden and building the retaining wall for the tiered borders.
We then built up and turfed the lower end of the garden working with the client to choose their preferred fencing. The weather wasn't on our side but we kept disruption to a minimum.
We built the decking framing and bespoke screening which we developed with the client. The project was delivered on time for their daughters 2nd birthday and on budget!
Completed decking featuring lighting on the shallow steps allowing access for all the family.
New levelled lower garden area enclosed by the new fencing. A perfect secure play area for the kids.
This is what the project was all about. Creating a solution that framed this fabulous view. On a sunny day this is spectacular!
